JR286 Keeps Pace with the Speed of Sports Using Domo
JR286 is responsible for designing, developing, and distributing high-performance sporting equipment across dozens of sports, with its products found everywhere from your local basketball court to the Super Bowl. To drive revenue growth across its sprawling product lines, JR286 uses Domo to centralize data and reduce its time to insight.
“Our goal is to have Domo be the hub for all our data sources,” said Trey Hoffman, data architect at JR286. “In the last two years, we’ve saved over 250 weekly hours with Domo.”

Competing as one team
Before Domo, JR286 relied heavily on spreadsheets to manage and report on everything from sales performance to margin tracking to forecasting. However, its disconnected reporting workflows meant multiple versions of the truth circulated across teams. With offices in North America, Europe, and Asia, along with products sold in countless retailers around the globe, JR286 needed an automated solution to collect, govern, and share data across sales, marketing, finance, and operations.
“Different departments were using different data sets. That made it hard to pinpoint issues or make consistent decisions,” said Sasha Bolivar, senior financial analyst at JR286. “With Domo, we’re all aligned, which makes problem-solving and making strategic decisions much easier. We’re now all talking about the same data.”
JR286 now uses Domo across its business to drive faster decision-making with real-time data. Instead of waiting days or weeks for manual reports, teams can explore live dashboards that show everything from customer orders and backlogs to forecast accuracy and product margin, which it can filter by region, channel, or category.
“I can build a presentation and refresh it each week in minutes, and I’m basically done. That used to take me one or two days,” Bolivar said

With Domo’s capabilities, JR286 is able to speed up analysis while ensuring data accuracy. “The technologies in Domo have drastically changed how we are able to consume data. We used to have to wait days or even hours to get a level of analysis that we can now get in seconds with Domo,” Hoffman said.
Similarly, the flexibility of Domo’s consumption-based pricing model has freed JR286 to explore new use cases, experiment with advanced features, and expand adoption as needed. “Domo’s consumption model allows us to play where we want to play without the worry of having to sign an amendment or run into roadblocks,” said Hoffman. “If a use case we’ve explored doesn’t end up needing the solution, it takes no time to pivot and there’s no additional cost implication.”
Seeing the entire field
JR286 uses Domo to create custom dashboards that tie together data from every stage of its product and supply chain lifecycle. For example, the product development team moved from tracking prototypes with sticky notes to a fully digitized dashboard that visualizes items as they progress through development.
“It helps us take in data all along the process and identify what can be done better so we can decide where to put our resources in the future,” Hoffman said.
In addition, global teams use Domo to carefully monitor revenue and margins by product, region, and brand. Dashboards allow them to explore what’s selling, where, and why so they can quickly respond to anomalies or wins. Domo has also transformed material resource planning across JR286’s global supply chain. What used to be a complex manual process involving multiple spreadsheets is now a single, centralized view that updates daily. “By monitoring supply and demand in real time, we never miss a revenue opportunity,” Hoffman said.
This visibility gives JR286 the opportunity to identify high-performing products within days instead of after a season. For example, when one of its head and neck-warming hoods suddenly took off among football players, JR286 used Domo to analyze the real-time revenue impact and take action.
“In the past, we would have had to wait until after the season to learn about it in hindsight,” said Alyson Burgor, product operations analyst at JR286. “Domo let us see sales skyrocket immediately so we could create collections that support it.”
By giving teams end-to-end visibility across development, inventory, and sales, JR286 is able to optimize performance and stay responsive to market demand, making it faster, smarter, and more connected than ever before.
“What I would say to somebody considering Domo is, ‘How quickly are you able to access your data?’” said Hoffman. “Right now, if it’s not within seconds, you need to consider Domo.”
