Intro

Canvas Data is a service from Canvas that provides admins with optimized access to their data for reporting and queries. You can connect to your CanvasData account in the Data Center. This topic discusses the fields and menus specific to the CanvasData connector user interface. To add DataSets, set update schedules, and edit DataSet information, see Adding a DataSet Using a Connector.

Prerequisites

To connect to your CanvasData account and create a DataSet, you need the following:
  • API Key
  • API Secret

Connecting to Your CanvasData Account

This section enumerates the options in the Credentials and Details panes on the CanvasData Connector page. The components of the other panes on this page, Scheduling, and Name & Describe Your DataSet, are universal across most connector types and are discussed in great detail in Adding a DataSet Using a Connector.

Credentials Pane

This pane contains fields for entering credentials to connect to your CanvasData account. The following table describes what is needed for each field:

Description

API Key Enter the API Key.
API Secret Enter the API Secret.
Once you have entered valid CanvasData credentials, you can use the same account at any time to create a new CanvasData DataSet. You can manage connector accounts in the Accounts tab in the Data Center. For more information about this tab, see Manage Connector/Adapter Accounts.

Details Pane

Menu Description
Report

Select the CanvasData report you want to run. The following reports are available:

Report Name Description

Get Tables Data

Retrieves the data for the selected table. Datasets should be scheduled to run once every hour in Append mode.
Table Name Select the table.
Account Please select the account.
