Intro

Google will sunset the Adwords API on April 27th 2022 in favor of their Google Ads API. As a result, Domo will deprecate its Google Ads connector (com.domo.connector.adwords.oauth) which relies on the Adwords API. See Google Ads Connector Deprecation document. Google Ads, previously known as Google Adwords, is an online advertising platform developed by Google, where advertisers bid to display brief advertisements, service offerings, product listings, or videos to web users. It can place ads both in the results of search engines like Google Search and on non-search websites, mobile apps, and videos. The Domo Google Ads connector provides the statistics about your campaigns, budgets, accounts, ads, and so on. This helps you to upgrade your business performance. You can connect to your Google Ads account in the Data Center. This topic discusses the fields and menus that are specific to the Google Ads connector user interface. To add DataSets, set update schedules, and edit DataSet information, see Adding a DataSet Using a Data Connector.

Prerequisites

To connect to your Google Ads account and create a DataSet, you must have the following:
  • Developer Token
  • Client ID
  • Client Secret

Connecting to Your Google Ads Account

This section enumerates the options in the Credentials and Details panes in the Google Ads Connector page. The components of the other panes in this page, Scheduling and Name & Describe Your DataSet, are universal across most connector types and are discussed in greater length in Adding a DataSet Using a Data Connector.

Credentials Pane

This pane contains fields for entering credentials to connect to your Google Ads account. The following table describes what is needed for each field:

Field

Description

Developer Token

Enter the developer token. See here for instructions. The developer token needs to be approved by Google to access the production environments.

Warning: This connector only works with the developer token approved by Google. A test token will not work.

Client ID

Enter the client ID created in the Google Developer Console.
1. Open the Google API Console’s credentials page.
2. From the project drop-down, select the project you want to use for the client ID/secret.
3. Under Application type, select Web application.
4. Under Authorized redirect URIs, add a line, https://oauth.domo.com/api/data/v1/oauth/providers/adwords/exchange.

Client Secret

Enter the client secret associated with the client ID

Once you have entered valid Google Ads credentials, you can use the same account any time to create a new Google Ads DataSet. You can manage connector accounts in the Accounts tab in the Data Center. For more information about this tab, see Managing User Accounts for Connectors.
