The Oakland A’s 2002 season introduced the world to the idea of “moneyball” through the 2003 Michael Lewis book and a Brad Pitt starring film in 2011. We will explore lessons from that “moneyball” season and the evolution of sports analytics since then. At its heart, the “moneyball” story is about using data to drive an organization and help people think differently. Every organization has these same challenges to scale processes, act on insights, and operate as a whole. At the center of this are scalable models used for decision-making, powered by digital technology, analytics, and data science. The challenge lies in knowing where to find your first win so you can build from there. In this session, we will talk about where analytics has been and where it’s headed – using sports as the frame.
Why attend: During our time with you, we will show you how data can be used to glean real insights that will lead to better decisions on the basketball court, and more importantly, in your organization. We will then show you how to take the next step, moving from business intelligence to more advanced artificial intelligence and machine learning, using Domo to do it all.
