Music for the Spirit Vol. 4 - Various Artists
To address the need and desire people have to bring more spiritual meaning and a sense of well being to their lives, Domo Records presents Music for the Spirit Volume 4. The lifestyles of Americans are changing dramatically each day and the events of the last few years, especially 9/11, have had a powerful impact on us all. It has become apparent that the pursuit of true happiness, peace and spirituality is coming to the forefront of more and more people.
Music for the Spirit Volume 4 draws inspiration from a wide array of distinguished and renowned musicians from all around the world. It is a journey that is influenced by the culture and spiritual traditions of these artists to address the deeper spiritual subtleties and meanings of our daily lives.
Nigerian drum chant Master Suru (Baba Olatunji, Mickey Hart, Santana) brings a haunting traditional African drum and chanting meditation piece, "Witch Doctor". Also new to the Domo family is Randy Armstrong, also known for his leadership of Doah World Music Ensemble and Unu Mondo, and contributes a previously unreleased song, "The Fisherman's Cancion", from upcoming recording, No Regrets.
Legendary Japanese composer and performer Kitaro contributes two pieces, "Gaia" and "The Scroll is Read" from his critically acclaimed soundtrack to the controversial Chinese film, The Soong Sisters. Other international musicians contributing to this collection include Tibetan Flute Master Nawang Khechog, Chinese Huquin virtuoso Yu-Xiao Guang and Mexican composer Luis Perez who brings forth his unique composing gifts on "Temple of the Inscriptions". The fiery flamenco duo Benedetti (Japan/Mexico) and Svoboda (Czech Republic) highlight a lighter more introspective side in their virtuoso guitar playing on "Alejo". An influential expert in sound healing music, Uma Silbey offers an inspired performance on "Awakening" and Dave Eggar's "Chasing Dragons" is both exuberant and breathtakingly beautiful.
